Flights to Barcelona

Your flight time to Barcelona depends on where you’re flying from and which airport you’re landing in. A journey from New York to Barcelona will take around ten hours including a connection in London, while Los Angeles to Barcelona takes around 14 hours with a connection.

We fly to Barcelona-El Prat Airport from London Heathrow and London Gatwick.

Visit Barcelona in spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) for pleasant temperatures, fewer tourists and shorter queues. During the summer months, the temperatures are around 28°C making it the perfect time to enjoy the beach, tapas and Barcelona’s many festivals and cultural events.

Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces are a must, from the iconic Sagrada Familia to the Casa Battlo. Wandering the Gothic Quarter’s medieval streets lined with bars and restaurants will give you a taste of Catalan nightlife.

The buzzing Mercat de la Boqueria is great for food lovers while art aficionados are spoilt for choice with the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and Picasso Museum to name but a few.

FC Barcelona’s immortal Camp Nou stadium tour is a great family-friendly experience, as is the eternal buzz of the city’s famous La Rambla. And when you want to sunbathe, head for Barcelona’s fabulous beaches.

Barcelona El-Prat Airport is just 12km from the city centre with good connections by bus, metro and taxi.

Aerobus offers the best value public transport option. Return fares cost just over €10 with departures every 15 minutes from both terminals. The terminals are also connected to Barcelona Metro’s L9 Sud line, while Terminal 2 offers a faster Renfe R2 train into the city.

Taxis are available from just outside the arrivals area, with a 30-minute journey into the centre costing around €35.

Citizens of the UK and Ireland and EU passport holders do not need a visa to visit Spain.
