Seat supports

Our aircraft can accept a range of seat supports to help during your journey. These supports are listed below, with information on the cabins they’re suitable in.

Please note that the information below only applies to flights operated by British Airways, not our partners and subsidiaries such as BA Cityflyer or BA Euroflyer.

If you are travelling on one of our flights operated by EuroFlyer, the following seat support devices are permitted, AmSafe (CARES), MERU Travel Chair, Crelling Harness and AbleMove Pro.

Booking your seat

You can reserve your seat for free via Manage My Booking once you have booked your flight and requested the assistance you require. You won’t be able to reserve your seat for free if you have not requested this assistance.

Burnett back support (extended length)

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. This applies to both standard and large sizes.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller), premium economy (World Traveller Plus) and business (Club Europe)
When using the Burnett back support (extended length) on board the aircraft, you should choose the following seat positions for safety reasons:

  • Single-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft
  • Twin-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft or in a centre row seat (not on the aisle)

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
When travelling in Club World and First, you can use this device if you are able to control the hand pump yourself. If you’re travelling in Club Suite, you’ll need to use the Burnett back support device with an extension seatbelt.

In all cabins
Please note, the Burnett back support (extended length) must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat, or in the rows in front or behind an emergency row or in a bulkhead seat.

Burnett back, head and side support

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. This applies to both adult and junior sizes.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller), premium economy (World Traveller Plus) and business (Club Europe)
When using the Burnett back head and side support on board the aircraft, you should choose the following seat positions for safety reasons:

  • Single-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft
  • Twin-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft or in a centre row seat (not on the aisle)

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
When travelling in Club World and First, you can use this device if you are able to control the hand pump yourself. If you’re travelling in Club Suite, you’ll need to use the Burnett back support device with an extension seatbelt.

When using the Stabilo Comfortable back rest on board the aircraft, you should choose the following seat positions for safety reasons:

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller), premium economy (World Traveller Plus) and business (Club Europe)
When using the Stabilo Flat on board the aircraft, you should choose the following seat positions for safety reasons:

  • Single-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft
  • Twin-aisle aircraft – in a window seat, on the right-hand side of the aircraft or in a centre row seat (not on the aisle)

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
When travelling in Club World and First, you can use this device if you are able to control the hand pump yourself. If you’re travelling in Club Suite, you’ll need to use the Stabilo Flat with an extension seatbelt.

In all cabins
Please note, the Stabilo Flat must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat, or in the rows in front or behind an emergency row or in a bulkhead seat. As the Stabilo Flat is marketed as a footrest, it can only be used in the aircraft seat as support.

Body Point Strap

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence.

CARES Harness

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. The harness is designed for use by infants and children between 10-20kgs.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller) and premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
The CARES Harness must be fitted onto seats in the last row of Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus.

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
The CARES Harness is not suitable for travelling in Club World and First.

In all cabins
Please note, the CARES harness must remain in position for the whole duration of the flight. It must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat, or in the rows in front or behind an emergency row.

MERU TravelChair

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. The chair is designed for children weighing a maximum of 35kg, aged between 3-11 years.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller) and premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
The MERU TravelChair must be fitted onto seats in the last row of Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus.

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
The MERU TravelChair is not suitable for travelling in Club World and First.

AbleMove Pro (EasyTravelSeat)

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence.

Seat belts must be passed through the slots on each side of the device and fastened during taxi, take off, landing and whenever the seatbelt signs are on during the flight.

Crelling Harness model 27

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. This applies to children aged 2-5 years (Type 27I device), 5-8 years (Type 27A device) and 9 years to adult (Type 27B device).

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller) and premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
The Crelling Harness must be fitted onto seats in the last row of Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus or in a seat where no other passenger is directly behind the support. It must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat, or in the rows in front or behind an emergency row.

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
The Crelling Harness is not suitable for travelling in Club World and First.

Firefly GoTo

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence. This applies to sizes one and two.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller) and premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
The Firefly GoTo must be fitted onto seats in the last row of Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus.

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
The Firefly GoTo is not suitable for travelling in Club World and First.

In all cabins
Please note, the Firefly GoTo size one or two, must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat, or in the rows in front or behind an emergency row or in a bulkhead seat.

Special Tomato sitter

You’re responsible for fitting this device as per the buggy instructions. Your child can only sit in the Special Tomato Sitter when the aircraft is cruising For take off, landing and at times of turbulence, your child must be strapped into the aircraft seat, with the child car seat put away in the overhead locker. This applies to size one, no other sizes are permitted.

Travelling in economy (Euro Traveller / World Traveller) and premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
The Special Tomato Sitter must be fitted onto seats in the last row of Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus.

Travelling in business (Club World) and First
The Special Tomato Sitter is not suitable for travelling in Club World and First.

Travel Snug

You or your travel companion must be able to fit the device. It’s suitable for use during taxi, take off, landing and during turbulence.

The Travel Snug can be used in all cabins but must not be placed in an emergency exit row seat.
