There are plenty of ways to reduce the cost of a trip to the Netherlands. Try visiting Amsterdam outside of peak times – including weekdays rather than weekends – to find better value. Or opt for the country’s second city Rotterdam, where tourist taxes are almost half the price of those in the capital and you can enjoy free festivals like the Unlimited Summer Carnival.

As one of the smaller countries in Europe, you can travel relatively quickly and easily within cities and between different areas of the Netherlands. The country prides itself on keeping its road network well maintained, making its public transport sustainable and creating an extensive cycle route network.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of the cities and see more of what the Netherlands has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

For a small country, the Netherlands has a wealth of culture and innovation to offer. It boasts many world-famous paintings in its museums and galleries, and it’s a pioneer in sustainable technology and green living, making it one of the most cycle-friendly countries in the world. With lots of hidden gems to explore, you’re spoilt for choice – take your pick of the cutting-edge architecture of Rotterdam, the vibrant beach clubs of The Hague and the natural beauty of Zeeland.
