Flights to Borneo
Whether you’re an adventurer after a jungle expedition or prefer to fly and flop on a tropical offshore island, Borneo has something for you. Here, you can climb 4,095m to the summit of Mount Kinabalu to see the sunrise, or dive down beneath the waves for some subsurface sightseeing. In fact, plan it wisely, and you can pair your exciting activities with relaxation. Hike through the jungle at Kinabatangan or the Danum Valley Conservation Area, home to a 130-million-year-old rainforest, and wake to the sound of birdsong in a rainforest lodge.

Fly to Borneo with British Airways and start in the coastal city of Kota Kinabalu.
After you’ve sampled the street food and browsed the market stalls, head out to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park to visit one of the park’s five islands. They’ve been described as the Maldives of Southeast Asia and are famous for their coral reef diving and snorkelling sites, as well as some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Borneo flight FAQs
A flight from London to Kuala Lumpur International Airport takes approximately 13 hours.
Borneo’s dry season runs between March and October, but this is also the most popular time to visit, so you might find it cheaper to travel from November to March, during the wet season. April and September can also be great months to find cheaper flights, when tourist numbers on the island fall and conditions for jungle trekking and visiting the beach are ideal.
Use our low fare finder to find the cheapest time to visit Borneo.
You can make a trip to Borneo fit any budget. Kuala Lumpur is known to have some of the most affordable luxury hotel rooms in the world, while car hire on the island itself is also very economical. Scooter rental is also available in the main cities of Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan.
The quickest and easiest way to travel onwards to Borneo is by flying from mainland Malaysia to Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan. Experience the city's vibrant street food scene and dig into delicious dishes at one of the many local markets. Visit free attractions like the Batu Caves or National Visual Arts Gallery and fill your suitcase with souvenirs from the Petaling Street market.
Then, once you arrive in Borneo, you can make the most of spotting animals in the wild and jungle adventures.
