Paris flight FAQs

A flight from London to Paris takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

We fly to Paris from London Gatwick and London Heathrow. The number of flights departing each week and flight times vary by airport.

The cheapest months to fly to Paris are generally March or November, just before and after the peak summer season. However, its programme of events and indoor entertainment make the city a year-round destination.

Even though it’s famed for fine dining and luxury hotels, you can find plenty of wallet-friendly places to eat, drink and sleep in Paris. Instead of eating lunch at restaurants, pick up everything you need for a well-priced gourmet picnic at the Marché des Enfants Rouges in the historic Marais district.

For a bargain shopping experience, visit the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen in the north of Paris. With 2,500 stalls it’s one of Europe’s largest flea markets, and you can seek out anything from second-hand books and antique art to vintage clothing.

Some of the city’s biggest museums, including the Louvre, offer free entry on the first Sunday of every month, and free admission to all EU citizens under 26 at any time of the year.

Once you touch down in Paris, you’ll be landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport. The best way to get to the city centre is by public transport – the RER train line is easily accessible from the airport and takes 35 minutes. Taxis are also available from outside the airport, and the journey takes about an hour.

The Metro underground network is a cheap and efficient way to get around when you arrive in the city, while visitors can move easily between many of the main attractions on foot. Walking between the Louvre and Eiffel Tower takes around 45 minutes.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of Paris and see more of what the surrounding area has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

The 20 arrondissements – neighbourhoods – that make up Paris each offer something unique.

Explore Île de la Cité in the 4th arrondissement, home to Notre Dame, then cross the bridge into the Latin Quarter for late-night bars.

Head to the 8th arrondissement for shopping along the Champs-Élysées, or board an open-top Bateaux Mouche to get a view of the city as you cruise along the Seine.

If you have time and you’re feeling adventurous, Paris makes the perfect start, or end point, for the Seine à Vélo cycle route. Ride up to 420km of cycle paths along the edge of the river, taking you from the capital all the way to Le Havre or Deauville.

You can book a hand baggage-only ticket or make the most of our generous baggage allowance. If you’re flying in our business cabin, you can check in two bags weighing up to 32kg each. Read our baggage guide for full details.

Citizens of the UK and Ireland and EU passport holders do not need a visa to visit France.
