A British Original safety video
Our new safety video celebrates one of Britain’s most original exports, the period drama. It pays homage to the UK’s rich and varied history, made famous by our literature, films and TV. Set in some of the most beautiful and recognisable locations from the world of period drama, it features our very own British Airways colleagues in modern Ozwald Boateng uniform and in period costume alongside a stellar cast of professional actors.

Dearest gentle reader, sit back and relax. Your pre-flight experience is soon to become even more enjoyable as our staff act out safety instructions in scenes inspired by three of the most beloved period dramas in British pop culture.
Think Bridgerton, Pride and Prejudice and Outlander, but with plane seats, cabin crew and oxygen masks. Meet our cast of horseback-riding Scotsmen, corseted ladies-in-waiting and bejewelled queens, as they follow along with the safety instructions given by members of our team.
Introducing: the cast
As with all British Airways productions, our people are at the heart of the idea. We’ve featured over 40 staff members from across the business in this safety video.
You'll see some wearing their uniforms and performing their day-to-day roles proudly, and some dressed up as characters from the past, showcasing a real flair for acting. From cabin crew and pilots to engineers and beyond, we’ve discovered some true hidden talents within our ranks. Watch out Hollywood.
Celebrating modern British talent
At British Airways, we love British talent – so we enlisted the best of British talent to work with us to create this film. This started with our director, Sharon Maguire, known for her work creating popular British comedies. Then, for our incredible costumes, we called upon award-winning costume designer Jenny Beaven (OBE), whose accolades include three Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, two Emmy Awards and an Olivier Award.

Setting the scene
We filmed in two beautiful locations, Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, and Englefield House in Berkshire.
Hatfield House
Our interior scenes were shot in Hatfield House, where we set up our aircraft equipment, including a full-sized Club Suite pod. You might recognise the interior from other films, including Bridgerton, Sherlock Holmes, Hot Fuzz and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2).
Englefield House
Englefield House was used for filming our exterior shots, as its beautiful facade framed by woodlands and its surrounding rough heathland was perfect for our Scotsmen-on-horses scenes. The house and grounds have been used as a location for several prestigious projects, including The Kings Speech, Agatha Christie’s Marple, X-Men: First Class and Black Mirror.
Explore our Great British destinations
Meet the ton across Great Britain – discover some of the cities we fly to.
Edinburgh
Stroll through the cobbled streets of Gothic Edinburgh, discovering everything from a dramatic hillside castle to the kiltmakers, whisky shops and bagpipe players of the Old Town.
A visit to the city feels like stepping back in time, but head further afield for untamed landscapes and noble history that will transport you to your own version of Outlander.
Manchester
Manchester’s towering mills, bustling warehouses and crowded streets were born from the Industrial Revolution. Like stepping into a Dickens novel, old Manchester has left its mark, and there are glimpses of its industrial heritage around every corner.
Jersey
Jersey's wild landscape feels like the setting of a novel. The northern side, with its uninterrupted coastal paths and steep cliffs, offers fantastic views overlooking hidden bays and inlets.
In the south, endless sandy stretches, wild heathland and rolling Atlantic waves paint a romantic picture. Among the pretty countryside dotted with wooded lanes and Medieval castles, it’s easy to imagine yourself in a period drama.
