There are five attractive swimming pools dotted around the grounds, including a saltwater pool and a lagoon-style pool, which comes complete with a swim-up bar and ocean views. The moat around the castle building is also swimmable. Make the most of the poolside drinks service and cosy cabanas, or simply relax on one of the many sun loungers available by the pool or on the private beach.

The Sanctuary Spa is the ultimate relaxation zone, offering a small pool, sauna, and steam room – as well as a beauty salon, multi-step hydro circuit and healthy snack bar. You can benefit from an array of revitalising treatments here, which include a selection of massages, facials, manicures and pedicures for an extra charge.

There are also plenty of recreational activities on offer. Enjoy water sports for a supplement charge. Otherwise, join in water aerobics sessions, yoga and meditation classes, or games of ping pong, darts and beach volleyball. You can also head to the spacious on-site fitness centre to work out or learn new moves at Club Dance.

The Sanctuary Town (open seasonally) is home to cafes, bars and all-inclusive restaurants. Here in the evenings, live nightly entertainment is provided in the form of karaoke, disco, beach parties and nightclub events.

Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Resort is home to a tempting blend of restaurants and bars. Casa Bella is an all-day buffet restaurant which serves international cuisine with a tropical twist. Breakfast is a leisurely affair, where eggs are made to order, breads are in abundance, as is fresh fruit. The Coffee Shop brews a variety of coffee blends, accompanied by freshly baked pastries.

There are also four a la carte restaurants. Blue Marlin serves fresh seafood for lunch and dinner – overlooking the Caribbean Sea – while Capriccio specialises in northern Italian cuisine. For tasty sushi and teppanyaki dishes, head to the Wok; or sample succulent tomahawk steak, giant prawns, creamy mash and Caesar salad at The Steakhouse. Be sure to save space for a rich tarte tatin and ice cream for dessert.

Order drinks and refreshments at the piano bar, swim-up bar, oceanfront lounge or beach bar. For light snacks and grilled specialities, don’t miss the poolside snack bar.
