The intimate resort is set within lush tropical gardens on the west coast of Barbados. It is situated on the idyllic white sands of Paynes Bay, renowned for its nesting turtles and calming waters. The sister hotel, Tamarind, is next door; and you can make use of the complimentary water taxi service, which will transport you to other Elegant Hotels on the island (excluding The House). The 35 suites on the property are spread across three-storey whitewashed buildings. They are uniquely designed with contemporary decor and furnishings and include a separate bedroom and living area. Suites also have a private terrace or balcony, which offers stunning views of the pool, garden or ocean. Standard features include king-size beds, sofa beds and premium bedding with duvets. Amenities include a tablet (for browsing the internet), air-conditioning, two flat- screen TVs, Bluetooth speakers, multi device chargers, Wi-Fi, yoga mats, bathrobes, minibar, kettle, espresso machine, a safe large enough for laptops and more. It’s worth upgrading to an Ocean View Suite for optimal views of the tropical grounds and Caribbean Sea.

Other facilities
The hotel encourages you to embrace your creative side. In the morning, hone your photography skills on a guided beach walk along the scenic Paynes Bay or head to the outdoor deck, where there’s an easel and a table for painting rock mandalas. Meet local artists who often display their work at the resort and join the complimentary Treasure Art Crawl – a bespoke tour which stops at museums, pottery stores and galleries throughout the island. If cooking is more your thing, the hotel offers a range of cookery workshops.
For relaxation, visit the poolside or beach where you’ll find exceptional service. Cold flannels, fruits and refreshing ice lollies will be offered as you recline in a comfortable sun lounger. Thanks to the hotel’s smaller size, there are usually enough sun loungers dotted around the curvaceous pool, but you can also rest on the nearby steps that lead down to the beach.
A variety of water sports are available at the beach: water skiing, banana boat rides, tube rides, paddleboarding, sailing, snorkelling and more. If you prefer more traditional exercise, make your way to the small on-site fitness centre or participate in an outdoor yoga session, offered twice per week. You can access the spa facilities (for a supplement) at the sister property, Tamarind, which is just 50 metres along the beach. Alternatively, take a water taxi to select west coast sister properties (weather permitting) to broaden your choice of facilities and dining options.
Dining information
The hotel’s stylish Tapestry Restaurant is open all day. In the mornings, come here to enjoy a continental breakfast buffet or a choice of cooked-to-order options, whether you fancy burritos, pancakes, omelettes or crepes. Lunch and dinner a la carte menus consist of a range of internationally inspired dishes, all of which are beautifully presented. There are weekly tapas evenings and more casual Sunday lunch specials held here too.
Visit The Wine Cellar to taste an extensive selection of wines or spend time at the open-air Batik Bar, which serves artisanal cocktails alongside ocean vistas. If you’ve opted for half board or full board, you can exchange meals at selected sister properties. You can also book signature culinary experiences and relish the complimentary Chef’s Dinner and Sundowner Hour, which includes complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Additional information
A mandatory Tourism Levy is not included in the price. This is payable locally direct to the hotel, in resort. Total cost will be calculated per room, per night and subject to change without notice.
