Flights to Jamaica

The birthplace of reggae, the all-inclusive resort and the world’s most famous fictional agent James Bond, Jamaica is a place that truly inspires. Even though it’s where author Ian Fleming conceived and penned the iconic 007 spy novels, you don’t need to be a super sleuth to understand the enduring appeal of this Caribbean paradise. Blue lagoons, verdant mountains and lush rainforests mean there’s so much more to Jamaica than its sun-soaked beaches.

Jamaica flight FAQs

A flight from London to Kingston Norman Manley International Airport takes approximately nine hours and 45 minutes.

British Airways flies direct to Jamaica from London Gatwick and London Heathrow.

The cheapest time to fly to Jamaica is generally between June and November, during the island’s rainy season. However, the temperature remains warm, with many parties and festivals held at this time of year.

You can find great deals in April and May too, just after the peak season that runs between December and March has ended. The weather is dry, making it perfect for exploring outdoors.

The best time to visit Jamaica is between December and March, when rainfall is at its lowest and the days are sunniest. This makes it an ideal time to lay out your beach towel and enjoy all the outdoor activities on offer.

Many of Jamaica’s major cultural events also take place during this period too, including the Rebel Salute concert in January, Reggae Month in February and the Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Festival in March.

Jamaica can be very affordable with some planning. The birthplace of the ‘all-inclusive’ resort, the standards are high on the island, so it’s easy to find one to please everyone in Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios. For a resort experience that’s a bit more tucked away, try Port Antonio on the northeast coast.

If you want to save on the cost of eating out, visit one of the island’s many cook shops – street food vendors serving authentic Jamaica food to take away.

Norman Manley Airport (KIN) is located 19km south of Kingston, the island’s capital. There’s a direct bus every 30 minutes from the airport to the city centre that takes about 40 minutes, or you can take a taxi from outside the terminal.

A national bus service operates in the main cities of Kingston and Montego Bay, and minibuses run across the island.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of the city and see more of what Jamaica has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

At 235km long, Jamaica is the largest English-speaking country in the Caribbean and home to some of the region’s most dazzling beaches. It also hosts a packed cultural calendar that runs throughout the year. The island’s annual carnival is one of its highlights, along with the Reggae Sunsplash Festival and Ocho Rios Jazz Festival.

Jamaica is a year-round, tropical getaway that’s perfect for a relaxing holiday, romantic break, an exciting family trip or an active adventure. For music-lovers, it’s a destination that hits all the right notes.
