Flights to Islamabad

Since replacing Karachi as the capital of Pakistan in the 1960s, Islamabad has established itself as one of the world’s most unique cities. Nestled at the foot of the Margalla Hills, the local greenery provides a striking contrast to many of the modern architectural marvels built over recent decades, creating a city where contemporary culture meets history and nature head on.

Islamabad is a great destination for a budget-friendly break. Many of the city’s most popular attractions are free to visit, including the Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument and Lok Virsa Museum. There is no charge to enter the Margalla Hills National Park, where visitors can hike the many trails and enjoy live music. Rickshaws and taxis are a great option if you’re travelling short distances around the city. Always agree a fare before you begin your journey, or use a ride-hailing app. For longer trips, including to neighbouring Rawalpindi, fixed fare Metro buses are a popular way to get around and offer free Wi-Fi.

Local buses operate across the city, with fares based on the length of the journey.
