Overview
Set among the pine forests of Ugento’s protected parklands, Vivosa Apulia Resort is situated between lush forests, white sand dunes and clear seas. A treat for families, it offers accommodation with two bedrooms, three pools – including one with water slides and another which is shaded and shallow, a kids’ and junior club and a baby feeding area in the main restaurant. Adults can delight at the award-winning spa, offering a host of Mediterranean-inspired treats.
Occupying the stretch of coastline known as the Maldives of Italy, named after its crystal-clear waters, the resort's beautiful beach is accessible via a wooden walkway spanning the scrub-scattered sand dunes. Nearby, the small town of Ugento features balcony-lined streets and piazzas, as well as restaurants. Further afield, within 18 miles of the resort, Specchia is known as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and Gallipoli is home to an old town with Baroque churches and a stretch of pretty coastline with popular nightlife. Brindisi Airport is 70 miles north, roughly an hour and a half’s drive.
Accommodation is arranged in ten, two storey buildings, built in local stone and set between landscaped grounds. Double Classic Rooms and Double Superior Rooms are similarly decorated in calming neutral tones, with tiled floors and pale walls with muted blue, green or taupe accents. The latter offers a little additional space. Families will find Family Classic Rooms comfortable, with two bedrooms and a coral take on the colour scheme. All options provide garden access or a balcony overlooking the gardens.

Other facilities
The large central pool is made up of four areas on different levels, separated by islands of garden. One section provides an open swimming space, another offers built-in jetted areas and a third area has submerged sun loungers. Running parallel to the main pool, separated by landscaping and a walkway, the fun pool features three waterslides, which cascade through foliage, and a small children’s pool which is shaded by a sun sail. Around each pool area, white sun loungers and umbrellas offer a spot to recline after a dip.
On the beach, mauve sun loungers await, as do inviting turquoise waters and refreshments at the beach bar. If sunbathing’s not your thing, a choice of non-motorised water sports are available here, too.
Back on land, children and teens can retreat to the kids’ clubs, where organic gardening, craft workshops, sports tournaments, picnics, camping and dance evenings are a handful of examples of what’s on offer. Vivosa Ecokids welcomes ages two to ten, while the Junior Club is open for ages 11 to 17.
For grown-ups, the award-winning Vivosa Organic Spa is a haven to wellness, with a pool, sauna, hammam, Kneipp path, sensory showers and three Technogym fitness rooms. Treatments are inspired by ancient Mediterranean practices and are provided with products from Florentine brand, Labratori Hur – using organic ingredients which are almost good enough to eat. Massages includes the Tranquillity Aromatic Spa Ritual, a stress busting treatment using aromatherapy and essential oils.
For the actively inclined, five-a-side football, tennis courts, padel courts, a jogging trail through the pine woods, beach volleyball, table tennis, a bowling green, archery, yoga and Pilates platforms are available. There’s even a Treetop Adventure Park, offering differing levels of difficulty for ages four and up.
Dining information
Via Appia is the resort’s main restaurant, included on the all-inclusive package, serving buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as Puglian, Italian and international cuisine, you’ll find health-conscious dishes, kids’ menus and a baby feeding area. In the evenings, you can alternatively dine at A Puteca – a roof terrace restaurant serving locally-inspired a la carte dinners and regional wines (charges apply).
Open from morning until midnight, Dolce Vita Pool Bar is located in the resort’s central square by the pool, offering coffees, cocktails and snacks. Scirocco Beach Bar provides refreshments, salads, ice creams and even local mozzarella on the beach. Choose a Cafe Salentino for another local treat – espresso with ice and almond milk. In the evenings, head to Damiano’s Lounge Bar for cocktails and music (charges apply).
True to its family-friendly ethos, young guests can hop on steps found at resort food and drink outlets, allowing them to order independently.
