The lazy-river style pool is an impressive 400-metres and features a family area and quieter spots to take full advantage of the Bali bed sun-loungers. If you’re staying in a Colonial Club room, there are two further pools for relaxing. Splash Kids Club is ideal for little ones aged four to twelve, offering two swimming pools, one with a lighthouse – and the other with a pirate area, slides and a popcorn machine for an on-the-go snack.

The spa is divided into three areas. The humid area has eight different showers, including dry ice, Swedish, tropical and aromatherapy features. Plus, it houses two saunas and two Turkish baths, an ice fountain and an enormous Jacuzzi with hot and cold areas. The massage area features ten treatment rooms – and, lastly, the beauty salon offers hair styling, manicures and pedicures (at a charge).

There's a fitness centre, water sports centre, basketball court and running track to keep you active. Access to the 18-hole, 72-par Punta Blanca golf course, located outside the resort, is also a big attraction at Majestic Resorts. It was designed by professional golfer Nick Price and provides a challenging but fun game. Look out for holes 13 and 15 that are both par 3. Otherwise, stop by the theatre or casino, both located on the immaculately presented Caribbean Street.

Dining information

There are six restaurants, including five that are a la carte, and a late-night snack bar. Supreme is the main restaurant offering an all-day international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. La Hispaniola is open for continental breakfast and lunch – offering an international buffet, plus a wide variety of dishes cooked to order. In between meals, head to Majestic’s La Bodeguita, on the Caribbean Street, for fast food to go, and a selection of soft drinks and beer. Taino has a Caribbean theme and specialises in Mexican and Dominican cuisine. La Hispaniola transforms into two restaurants at night. It becomes Rodeo Grill steakhouse restaurant and Tres Carabelas seafood restaurant.

For fine dining, you can book a reservation at Le Gourmet. It ’s adult-only (12+ years) and provides a sophisticated setting – with a menu to match. It is also open exclusively for breakfast and lunch if you’re staying in the Colonial Club room categories. Alternatively, reserve a table at Ma+Suri, a Japanese restaurant with show cooking and a sushi bar.
