Overview
With the soul of a riad but the spirit of a luxury hotel, Les Jardins de la Medina retains its 19th Century architecture in the historical heart of Marrakech. This intimate hotel features just 36 rooms, arranged around tropical gardens, courtyards and a tranquil outdoor pool. A spa is ready to pamper you with locally inspired treatments and a restaurant offers tempting Moroccan dishes and wines.
Located on a narrow street, two miles south of the medina, the hotel is within a mile’s walk from Bahia Palace and Badi Palace. Jamaa El Fna square and Koutoubia Mosque are just over a mile away and Jardin Majorelle – or the Yves Saint Laurent Mansion – and Menara gardens are within three and a half miles distance. Marrakesh Menara Airport is approximately four miles away.
Decorated in a Moroccan style, the hotel lobby welcomes you under a domed ceiling, illuminated by an intricate tree-like chandelier. The Moroccan style continues throughout the rest of the property, from arched doorways to walls lined with lanterns. Rooms feature white walls, dark furniture, jewel-toned patterned fabrics and shuttered windows. Pillow scents, capsule coffee machines and welcome gifts elevate the vibe to a luxurious one. Most Superior Patio rooms open onto an enclosed patio area with fountains, while Superior Garden rooms are located beside the private gardens. Les Sultane accommodation overlooks the gardens or has access to a courtyard. For your own private suntrap, choose a Solarium room, with access to a rooftop terrace via a small flight of stairs. All accommodation options offer a Sun Basket in the room, with charming sun hats and bold green pool towels.

Other facilities
In the heart of the hotel sits a pale blue pool with a shallow entrance. It’s surrounded by sun loungers with blue towels to match the shimmering water and towering palms – which also line the walkways through the tropical gardens. In addition to palms, you’ll notice olive and bitter orange trees, which are a favourite with local birds. On the ground floor gardens are spotted with tiled courtyards and flowing fountains, while a rooftop area offers white sofas, loungers and skyline views from the shade of a curtain-cornered pergola.
At the spa, a complete range of treatments for the face and body are available – including a barber. For an in-depth pamper, choose the Marrakchie Discovery package for a four-day treatment programme, commencing with a hammam, body scrub with black soap and eucalyptus, a ghassoul body mask and a face mask with argan and verbena oil. Day two includes a hammam and body mask with clay and mint, followed by a personalised massage and day three will see your feet cared for with sea salts and essential oils. Your four-day plan concludes with a final hammam, salt scrub with essential oils and a hand treatment with grapeseed oils. A tented outdoor fitness area completes the hotel’s wellness facilities.
Purchase mementos from your stay at the on-site boutique.
Dining information
Open all day, transforming into a bar in the evenings, the hotel’s restaurant is found in the former reception room of the riad, under carved cedar ceilings, opening out to the garden. Start your day with an indoor and outdoor buffet, followed by a delicious light lunch served in the centuries-old garden. In the evenings, the seasonal menu includes tagines and lamb crusted with herbs from the Atlas Mountains, paired with fine French and Moroccan wines. On Thursdays, you’ll find live music to accompany your dinner, and a magician hosts dinner on ‘Magic Sundays.’
