Hassler Roma presents three restaurants and one distinguished on-site bar. Salone Eva & Palm Court is a suave lounge and terrace, serving Chef Marcello Romano’s delectable dishes all day. For lunch, try Romano’s take on the capital’s icon, Amatriciana pasta – served with Pecorino Romano cheese, or savour an ultra-sweet caramel delight with pears and cinnamon. Why not try the afternoon tea on offer? It includes celebrated British classics, like scones and clotted cream, with Italian treats like cantucci biscuits and maritozzi with coffee cream. In summer, you can also dine al fresco in Palm Court, where towering green ivy and flowers embrace the stone walls, and concoctions of champagne and pomegranate juice – like Veruschka are too good to resist.

Meanwhile, Imago is the place to see and be seen at dinner. This exclusive spot is located on the sixth floor with vast panoramas of Roman palazzi, domes and orange-hued 19th Century buildings – as well as a coveted fine dining menu fit for an emperor. Sample Chef Andrea Antonini’s tasting menus, which include anchovy and puntarella salad and pumpkin and amaretto flavours. There is also an extensive wine list, spanning every connoisseur’s favourite – from Tignanello to Chianti Classico. For more swoon-worthy views, head to the seventh-floor terrace at sunset to enjoy cool drinks, salad plates and most importantly a side of Eternal City vistas.

Drinks central takes place at The Hassler Bar, which is open all day and oozes elegance. Tucked away above Salone Eva, it features a mahogany bar, chestnut and burgundy leather seating, 17th Century paintings and gilded walls – it’s no wonder that Princess Diana adored the bellini cocktail here.
