Whether you’re organising lunch for your little ones or require an alternative meal to meet your dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to meet your needs while you’re on board.
When can I order a meal if I have specific dietary requirements?
- You can request Kosher meals on flights from London Heathrow up to 24 hours before departure, and at least 48 hours before your flight departs from all other airports.
- If you have another dietary requirement, you can request an alternative meal at least 24 hours before your flight departs.
- Meals for specific dietary requirements aren't available when you're flying in Euro Traveller, our economy cabin on our short-haul routes. We don’t serve a complimentary meal during these flights.
- If you’re flying in Euro Traveller, you can purchase a wide range of refreshments from our High Life Café online before you travel. We’ll deliver your food and drinks to your seat during your flight.
Meals available on British Airways
We can’t cater to every type of dietary requirement on all our flights, so we may not be able to provide your preferred option.
We cannot offer any variations on the meals below, or special items such as lobster, steak, caviar or a fruit plate made to your personal preference.
The meals we offer for specific dietary requirements may contain a range of allergens, including tree nuts or sesame, and may not be suitable for customers with a severe food allergy or multiple food allergies.

Vegetarian:
This meal does not contain meat or fish – including shellfish – or animal product derivatives like bovine gelatin. It may contain eggs and dairy products like milk and cheese.
Vegan:
This is a strictly vegan meal that’s completely free of animal products, including honey, eggs and dairy. It does not include animal product derivatives like bovine gelatin.
Hindu – vegetarian:
This meal does not contain any meat, fish or eggs but may contain dairy products. It’s flavoured with mild spices from the Indian sub-continent.
Hindu – non-vegetarian:
This meal contains lamb, chicken or fish, eggs and/or dairy products. It does not contain any beef, pork or beef/pork derivatives and it’s flavoured with mild spices from the Indian sub-continent.
Halal:
This meal is prepared in accordance with Halal guidelines. It uses Halal meat and does not contain pork, alcohol or derivatives of these products.
Jain:
This is an Indian vegan meal suitable for members of the Jain community. It doesn’t contain root vegetables like onions, garlic, ginger, radish, turnip or potatoes. It does not include alcohol.
Kosher:
This meal is prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary law. It does not contain any pork, by-products of pork or shellfish.
Not available on flights to London from: Bahrain, Bangalore, Beijing, Cancun, Caribbean (All), Hyderabad, Islamabad, Kuwait, Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, Mauritius, Shanghai, Riyadh, Jeddah, San Jose (Costa Rica), Santiago, Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago).
Child meal:
This may be a non-vegetarian meal that is suitable for young travellers between the ages of 2-12 years. May contain beef and pork products.
Baby meal:
On board our long-haul flights, we offer baby bottle/food warming facilities and also a limited stock of baby food and milk.
It is not possible to order baby meals and we cannot sterilise bottles or provide sterilised water on board. We recommend to carry your own baby food and equipment in your hand baggage.

Diabetic:
This is a nutritionally balanced meal, prepared for diabetic customers. It contains minimal sugar content and a balance of proteins, fats, fibre and complex carbohydrates.

Gluten intolerant:
This meal is suitable for those with coeliac disease or an intolerance to gluten. It doesn’t feature cereals containing gluten, including wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut or products derived from these. It may include dairy products.
Low calorie:
This meal is high in fibre, low in fat, and contains complex carbohydrates. It does not include sugar, fatty meats, sweets, fried or fatty foods and sauces like mayonnaise or gravy.
Low fat:
This meal is high in fibre and contains complex carbohydrates and minimal saturated fats. It does not include fried foods, egg yolks, added fats and oils, processed meats and cheeses and high-fat sauces.
Low salt:
This meal does not contain any added salt, sodium and salt substitutes. It can include salt-free margarine, low-sodium breakfast cereals and cheeses.
Low lactose:
This meal is suitable for lactose-intolerant customers. It does not include any products with lactose in them, like cheese and milk. It can contain soya milk.

We can't cater to every type of dietary requirement on all flights, and there may be flights where we cannot supply your chosen meal.
We cannot offer any variations on the meals below, or special items such as lobster, steak, caviar or a fruit plate made to your personal preference.
Vegetarian:
Does not contain meat, fish, fowl, eggs, honey and dairy products.
Gluten free:
Does not contain wheat, wheat flour, barley oats, rye, bread, cakes (unless wheat free).
Lactose free:
Does not contain dairy products (from cow, goat and sheep).
Diabetic meals:
Does not contain sugar and jams, cakes and chocolate, unless they're specific diabetic varieties. Contains only low fat products.
Baby food:
Baby puree, bananas and yoghurt.
Child meal:
Familiar and healthy food for children.
Asian vegetarian meal:
A meat-free, spicy meal. Does not contain fish, poultry or eggs.
Contains yoghurt, cheese and butter.
Hindu meal:
Contains poultry or fish and spicy vegetables.
Does not contain pork or beef products.
Muslim meal:
Does not contain pork, by-products of pork or ingredients containing alcohol.
All meats come from ritually slaughtered animals.
Low cholesterol meal:
Low fat meat products (roasted, not fried).
Low fat dairy products (no cream, eggs or sugar).
