Egypt flight FAQs

A flight from London to Egypt takes just over five hours.

We fly to Egypt from London Heathrow.

Use our low fare finder to discover the cheapest time to visit Egypt. Late autumn through to winter are the most popular times to visit Egypt, so book your flights in spring or early autumn if you want to save but still enjoy the sunshine and temperatures suitable for sightseeing.

The best time to visit Egypt depends on the activities you’d like to do during your trip. January is the ideal month to bask in the sunshine in Sharm el-Sheikh, so start your year off by heading to the beach. Late autumn to early winter is perfect for desert treks and hiking, and in Cairo the weather is cooler, so it’s ideal for longer strolls to discover the capital’s mosques and markets. You can also sail down the Nile and enjoy clear views – great for photography – and the country’s date harvest is at its peak.

You don’t need to break the bank to explore Egypt. With a little research and planning, you can make the most out of your trip. Stay in the heart of Cairo to make exploring the city’s sights more accessible – and avoid the city’s notorious traffic. Embrace the local food and eat your way through Egypt’s hearty street food scene, which has lots of cheap and delicious options. If you’re planning on visiting a lot of museums and archaeological sites around Cairo and Giza, you can buy passes that get you into all the top venues.

In Egypt’s bigger cities you can use public transport with ease. Public buses, trams and Cairo’s Metro are easy to navigate and cheap to use. Ride-hailing apps and taxis are also available, just make sure you agree on a fare before getting into a hailed taxi. For domestic travel, you can catch a train or bus. Or, hire a private driver to take you to all the sights and navigate while you sit back and enjoy your holiday.

From exploring the mighty Nile, ancient pyramids and sphinxes to touring the vast desert and bustling cities, Egypt has something for every traveller. Then there’s the Red Sea, which hides magnificent coral reefs that can be explored while snorkelling or diving.

You can book a hand baggage-only ticket or make the most of our generous baggage allowance.
