British Airways flights

You should receive Avios and tier points as per your original British Airways ticket, even if you were transferred to a partner airline or an airline that's not a partner of British Airways.

Flights with partner airlines

You may be entitled to receive Avios and tier points as per your original ticket, but this is at the discretion of our partner airlines. If you were transferred to a flight with British Airways or a partner airline, you can claim Avios and tier points for the flight you flew instead.

If your flight was cancelled or disrupted and you haven't received the Avios and tier points you were expecting, you can submit details of your claim online along with any proof, such as copies of your boarding passes and tickets.

You won't be entitled to receive Avios and tier points if you booked using rewards, even if you paid to upgrade your cabin.

If you make a reward booking and paid to upgrade cabin or upgrade using Avios or a Gold upgrade voucher, you won't be entitled to receive Avios and tier points.

If you upgrade your cabin using Avios or a Gold upgrade voucher, you'll receive Avios and tier points based on the commercial fare you have paid.

If you pay to upgrade your cabin on British Airways flights, you'll receive Avios and tier points as per the upgrade.

If you believe you're entitled to additional Avios and tier points for an upgraded flight, you can submit details of your claim online, along with any proof such as a copy of your boarding pass and upgrade voucher or receipt.

This will depend on the terms of the upgrade and for partner flights, it's at the discretion of our partner airlines. Please see the websites of our partner airlines for more details.

If you booked through a third party, including ba.com, you won't be entitled to receive Avios.

When you use our non-airline partners, Avios are awarded per stay or transaction, not per person. The person named on the invoice will receive the Avios.

If you've booked through British Airways Holidays, Avios aren't earned for hotels but can be earned for car rental by the person named on the invoice.

Always provide your British Airways Club membership number when making your booking, and again at check-in, whether with British Airways or with one of our partners. Also, the name on your ticket and passport should match the name on your British Airways Club account.

You can also go to Manage My Booking where you can add your membership number to an existing booking, select your seat, and check in online.

Keep your boarding passes and ticket receipts until you see that the Avios have been posted to your online statement.

The ticket number is called 'document number' and is included in the information in the e-ticket confirmation information.

Only the person named on the ticket will receive Avios, as long as that person is a member of The British Airways Club. If you set up a household account, your child can become a Club member and your Avios can be combined.

No, each member must submit a claim individually.

You should submit your claim using the flight number for the airline who sold the flight, not the airline who operated the flight.

Yes, we transfer your tier points and Avios together with all your other membership details.

Please note you can only change the country on your account once every six months. You may no longer qualify for some promotions and the partners you earn Avios with may also change.

Earning Avios with all finance card partners except HSBC and Citibank is country specific, so the country on your account must be the country required by the finance card partner you are claiming for. Also, the address on your account will need to match the address you have with our partner.
