British Airways Action for Street Children works
with an organisation called NODED ( National Organisation for the
Development of the Disadvantaged) based in the capital, Harare.
The Harare Street Children Organisation
in the city centre is often the first point of contact for children living
on the city's streets. The children come to the centre of their own free
will and are provided with food, shelter and a basic education, after
which many of the children go on to the Mbuya Nehanda Training Centre,
ninety minutes outside of the capital.
At the centre up to 150 former
street children aged 8-16 years receive care and education. At Harare's
Children's Home the children's ages range from new-born to late teens. British Airways Action for Street Children spends valuable time with the children, organising
sport and fun activities.
